The Hunt: five of the best vegan fashion brands

With Veganuary still one of January’s biggest talking points, we’ve pulled together our top five pieces from five stylish vegan fashion brands…

Vildnis Jumpsuit, £125
This utility jumpsuit is made from 100% Tencel, a low impact material made from wood pulp.

Because it’s Cool: The details on this emerald jumpsuit elevate it from being a boiler suit into a form flattering, on-trend piece. The gunmetal zip and D-ring belt gives it a raw edge while the ribbons on the cuff and belt add femininity.
Because it Matters: Vildnis understand the importance of sustainable fashion and are a champion of sustainable and renewable fabrics such as Tencel and modal. They also strive for complete transparency in their supply chain to make sure they stick to high manufacturing standards.

Wilby Bag, NOW £70
This PETA approved vegan handbag brand keeps it youthful with forward thinking materials.

Because it’s Cool: Everyone needs a classic black bag and thanks to its detachable alloy chain this one doubles up as a elegant clutch for a night out. If you prefer a bolder style, it’s also available in electric blue, bold red and citrus yellow.
Because it Matters: Wilby never uses real leather in their products and they largely opt for organic and eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton and lining, recyclable cloth, eco-friendly backing and cork leather.

Beyond Skin Stilettos, NOW £110
Beyond Skin produce vegan shoes that don’t compromise on style.

Because it’s Cool: We love these faux snakeskin shoes! The petrol, metallic effect compliments the snakeskin look perfectly while the classic pointed stiletto style remain a staple in any wardrobe.
Because it Matters: Designed in the UK and manufactured in Spain, Beyond Skin is a brand that produces small batches of each style in an attempt to minimise waste.

Noumenon Top, €78 (£69)
Noumenon chooses modern fabric alternatives for classic styles.

Because it’s Cool: This relaxed boxy top is one of those pieces you can always rely on – perfect for stressful mornings before work, wardrobe meltdowns before a night out and to chuck on in transition between the beach and the bar…
Because it Matters: Made out of 100% Modal this top has the same properties as silk but takes far less energy and water to produce. Noumenon manufactures in small batches to reduce waste and when possible they choose NOT to blend their fabrics so that they can be fully recycled at the end of their life!

ECOALF Jacket, NOW £119.40
Predominantly made from recycled fishing nets and water bottles, ECOALF use what we already have.

Because it’s Cool: This turtle-neck puffer is a youthful take on a classic water and wind proof jacket. Available in chocolate, berry and black this bomber is perfect for the winter chill. It’s entirely made from recycled fishing nets meaning that not only is it cruelty free but ECOALF are doing their part to reverse the damage we inflict on the planet.

Because it Matters: ECOALF are determined to improve the standards of our oceans. They recycle plastic bottles and fishing nets to create their coats and bags and work with fishermen and global communities to educate on plastic pollution.

Great list Gabrielle – love Ecoalf! Do you have any more suggestions for smart footwear in particular? I always struggle with that and at the moment resort to second hand (just discovered the real real!). Thanks!
